Greetings

........."continuing the legacy"

It is a great honor to be a descendant of this wonderful family.  Although several of our ancestors have passed away, they have left a huge legacy. It is our responsibility to continue to build upon this legacy our ancestors started.  If we do not pass down our legacy, who will?

We must be strong, educated, dedicated, determined, persistent, and have the will to survive and surpass any and all obstacles that we face now and in the future.

We must stick together and support each other not only when times are good, but, when times are bad also.  Everybody needs somebody sometime.  Let's stand by the saying, "united we stand, divided we fall".

It gives me great pleasure to be a part of the historians of the family and to be able to share with all of you the past as well as the future.  It is my dream that the future generations will continue to expound upon this family's heritage.

Proposal Letter from Curtis Edwards - Saturday, October 30, 2010

Theodore Edwards Day (T.E.D.)

Dear Family Members:

This letter is about someone whom I believe was dear to all of us, that someone is Theodore Edwards, my brother who was born October 6, 1925, and died October 6, 2010 (on his birthday). I think we all know and remember how he diligently tried to keep in touch with everyone in the family and how he searched to locate family members that were deceased and alive to create a family tree of our family.

Ted as he was known, left a legacy that we can all follow and keep it up, that legacy is LOVE ONE ANOTHER AND KEEP IN TOUCH. I propose, with Josephine, his widow’s permission, that we establish a family day in his name honoring his endeavor for the family to love one another and keep in touch. That day will be known as Theodore Edwards Day, which has the acronym T. E. D. That day will be October 6th every year and on that day members of our family will contact each other by telephone, e-mail or any other communication methods available. Members should also visit each other if possible.

The contact does not have to be costly, all it has to be is an exchange of conversation regarding how each family is doing and any other relevant news. This is in essence continuing contact and communicating. It is not necessary for us to try to contact everyone each year, but it would be nice if your contact involve different family members each year. If the contacts increase enough and someone wishes to head up a family reunion we will have a good foundation started, with family members who have communicated with each other.

In order to begin this family day we must have your names, what family you are from (Pyles, Ware, Striplin, Allen or Edwards).

This is not something I proposed to glorify Ted or myself, it is something to continue Ted’s effort to bring our family closer together which will benefit us all. Let us all do our best to accomplish Ted’s legacy which will bring us closer together. Let us include the young family members in this effort, for they are our future and many of them may not know who Ted was plus there may be young family members that do not know each other. If we can accomplish this our family will be enhance and Ted will not live in vain.

Ted’s granddaughter has set up a website for family members to forward their names, address, telephone, birthday list, family name and descendants so a master roster can be created so everyone will have the information how to contact each other.

Birthdays

Birthday Reflections
Your birthday's a time for careful reflection
About your life, and its future direction.
You see where you've been when you look at the past;
Most of it's great; you had quite a blast!

 You wonder what's coming, what life has in store;
Will it be just the same? Will there be a new door?
Remember this, as you blow out the last candle:
Life holds no challenge that you cannot handle.
